1968
I begin my career as a song writer, singer and guitar player in the North of France, sharing on occasion the stage with Little Bob, Joe Dassin, Claude Francois, JJ Goldman and Michel Polnareff who sponsors me for the Sacem.
I also accompany Vince Taylor who, at that time, was Johnny Halliday’s main rival.
1978
I sign a contract with the American firm CBS after coming fourth in a national competition at the Olympia ; this was followed by radio tours and studio recordings.
1980
I start a Rock and Roll band called « Les Revenants » in Normandy where I now live ; I also release a single which has become a collector’s item distributed by Carrere.
Ten years with the Blues Rock trio follow this as well as touring across France.
1990
Back to blues-rock (my first love) touring in France with the band Crossroad.
1999
A fortuitous meeting leads me to create a Country Music band bearing my name and in September 2001 there is the release of my first solo album, Charlie West « Country and Blues » which receives an excellent review from the specialist press.
Some hundreds of concerts later and the pleasure of being on stage remains the same, with appearances on FR3, Canal Jimmy, support act to Ike Turner, and the Billy Bob’s Disney Paris.
Also French Music Festivals of Berck sur Mer, Gravelines, Dam Country Normandy, Niederbronn, Cambrai, Avranches, with our Belgian neighbours of Cerexhe, as well as the World Music Festival in Tunisia in summer 2005……Travelling keeps you young…….
